This Saturday 8/23, Chuy’s will be hosting a photo shoot fundraiser to benefit FFCAS! It’ll be held at Uptown Pet Bistro & Boutique from 12-3pm. Dog owners are invited to stop in with their dogs and representatives from Chuy’s, Fairfax’s newest destination for authentic Tex-Mex, will be on hand to photograph each pet, to be framed and used as part of the restaurant’s “La Chihuahua Bar” community dog wall. Owners will receive a print of their photo and a certificate for a free appetizer at Chuy’s in exchange for their $5 donation to FFCAS! — at Uptown Pet Bistro and Boutique.

This September, the Friends of the Fairfax County Animal Shelter is piloting an exciting new program, and we need your help to spread the word! Our Shelter Pet Sponsorship program will match local businesses and individuals with shelter pets in order to increase adoptions and save lives. Our approach is based on the principle that decreasing adoption fees and increasing community advocacy will help more shelter pets- especially seniors and those with special needs- find their forever homes. Two types of sponsorship are offered: partial payment of a cat or dog’s adoption fee, or the donation of a gift certificate for a pet-related product or service. This way, those pets who need advocacy the most can potentially be sponsored and advocated for more than once. Learn more and register to sponsor a pet at: http://www.ffcas.org/?page_id=655

Sweet Jane is somehow, impossibly NOT yet adopted. Email FCPDPetResources@fairfaxcounty.gov to meet her and share this post to help her find her happily ever after. Sweet Jane has the biggest, most loving personality you’ve ever seen and she’s going to make a lifelong best friend to the lucky person who adopts her. And she loves to bounce balloons! (This is not a photoshop).

You’re very welcome! Yes, he will be fed well after his surgery. The shelter feeds the animals really high-quality, good food, and I think there’s also a chance he may go into foster care for a while. We were updated yesterday that he seems to be feeling a lot better after his surgery- he’s hopping around and actively seeking attention now. The Friends will be getting updates on his progress, and I’ll make sure to post here if we hear anything new!

UPDATE: Domino is in foster care and is doing well!

Coco is hoping to find a family to take her to the beach, or just one that will let her lay in the windowsill or on the porch to enjoy the warm summer air. She is sponsored by All Friends Pet Care, so her adopters will receive a $50 gift certificate for pet care services. Coco is FIV positive, but is healthy and ready to start her new life! Come and meet her at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter!

Domino came to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter with bladder stones that are causing him great discomfort. FFCAS is helping to fund the surgery to have the stones removed. We’re so grateful to our generous donors, who are the reason we have the resources to help animals like this guy.
